A busy January
Happy New Year! Primary 6 have had an extremely busy start to Term 3. In just our first week back after the Christmas holidays we had our Robert Burns song words, poetry and assembly lines given out. On top of that, the following week, we had different lines and poetry as well as speeches to learn for the Ceilidh! In just three short weeks the P6 pupils from Room 13 and 14 planned and prepared for these two events and on Friday 23rd January the pupils, as expected, delivered fantastic performances at both events. The Ceilidh was a great success and special congratulations go to Kyle Bunch and Nieve Stevenson who made the toasts; Brogan McDowall, Jay Proctor and Robert Strachan who Addressed the Haggis and Stephen Spiers and Rachel Wood who gave a fabulous performance of O' My Luve is like a Red Red Rose and Matthew Fitt's humorous response. I was so very proud of each and every Primary 6 pupil who took part in these events. Well done!
We went on a fabulous trip to Barshaw Park to take part in Geocaching. Geocaching is a world wide treasure hunt where hidden items are found using GPS and clues about the local area they are placed in. Primary 6 have created similar treasure hunts for each stage in the school and have hidden items and activities around the school grounds. This trip gave the class a 'hands on' experience of what Geocaching is and has informed their project. The project came about as a result of a P.E. grant Mrs Gray secured to enhance the physical well-being of the pupils at Kirklandneuk. Geocaching in our school incorporates Physical Education and other areas of the curriculum, especially our class topics. Our Robert Burns and The Georgians topic is under way and we have been learning a lot about this period in time. We hope to visit the Burns' Cottage in Alloway this term to find out more about Robert Burns' life. We don't want to give too much away as you will read, hear and see all about it when you visit during our Open Evening!
