Term 4

Term 4 is here already and we cannot believe it! We started off our last term as Primary 6 pupils learning about the Solar System and structure of the Earth. We learned a fantastic song to help us recall the planets in order from the Sun and produced a labelled diagram detailing the four layers of Earth. We also took part in an excellent co-operative challenge to make Solar System mobiles. They are hanging in our class and are very effective. We only had one afternoon to complete them with materials provided my Miss Paterson. We have started Cycling Proficiency training and it is going well so far. Luckily, we have had good weather which makes it easier for us to carry out manoeuvres. In class we will begin to learn cycling theory, looking at road signs, hazards and rules of the road. There will be a practical and written test at the end. On Tuesday 12th May Andrew Mackay and Nieve Stevenson joined Miss Paterson and two P3 pupils on a trip to the Tweedie Hall in Linwood. The purpose of the trip was to showcase their group's electric car that they have been working on. The car was put under pressure in various tests and Nieve and Andrew were asked lots of questions about their creation. All of the boys and girls in Room 14 participated in the making of one of these cars, applying measuring, sawing, designing and creating skills to make incredible inventions using a pulley system with a switch. We are thoroughly looking forward to becoming 'buddies' to the new Primary 1 pupils and have enjoyed meeting them over the course of term 4. We would like to wish you a safe and sunny Summer holiday! Miss Paterson and Primary 6
