The New Year

Primary 6 have had an extremely busy start to the new term. For the first two weeks in January we were rehearsing for our Burns’s Assembly and Ceilidh. This took place on Friday 21st January and was a huge success.
At our assembly we spoke about the life and times of Robert Burns, recited some of his most famous poems including “Tae a Moose” and sang Scottish songs including “Flower of Scotland.” We thoroughly enjoyed performing at the assembly and raised a significant amount of money for our chosen charity “Yorkhill Hospital.” Thank you to everyone who contributed.

At night we hosted a Burns’s Supper/Ceilidh in our very own school dinner hall. We performed poems, sang songs and highland dancers performed for all the parents and invited guests. The most enjoyable part of the evening was dancing the night away with some traditional Scottish Ceilidh dancing. It was so much fun!

Currently, we are learning about our new secret topic. We are really enjoying working in groups and are looking forward to transforming our classroom for our open evening in March. We hope you can attend to see all our hard work.
