Easter has arrived!

Term 3 has been extremely busy with lots going on in our classroom. We worked tirelessly to transform our class into a hub on information about Robert Burns and the Georgians. This was a period of time that we thoroughly enjoyed learning about. So many things changed or were introduced during the 18th century which has shaped Britain today. The topic evening was very successful and we received glowing feedback from our visitors. We would like to thank each and every one of you who came! We had games, recordings (which the primary 6 children loved listening to) and a wealth of information to share with our guests. We do hope everyone made it back safely to 2015 after their time travel through our 'tardis'. More recently, we visited the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum in Alloway. This was a fantastic trip and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone involved. Firstly we visited the museum area to see lots of interesting artefacts from books to paintings and even some audios! Just as we were finishing in the museum our lovely tour guide, Mrs Steel arrived. She was very knowledgeable and took us to the Auld Kirk, Brig O' Doon, The Burns Monument and a stroll along Poet's Path where we met a giant mouse and heard the story of Tam O' Shanter. Our last job after lunch was to dress up as Georgian children and take a tour around the cottage itself. We were amazed that we were actually standing in Robert Burns' home. We saw his tiny living, kitchen and sleeping area – all in one room! Overall we were very impressed with our trip to the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum and Cottage and it helped us visualise what we had been learning about. As if we were not lucky enough to visit Alloway, the next day we had a trip to St. Mirren football stadium to take part in the annual Safe Kids event. We were split up into groups with children from St. James' primary and taken round seven different workshops to help us understand how to stay safe in our community. We heard from the Fire Brigade, Police, Wardens, Footballers and many more. Issues we discussed were drug awareness, littering, Internet safety and conducting ourselves as Responsible Citizens. We even got a goody bag for our fantastic participation! We would like to wish you all a fabulous and relaxing Spring Break. Primary 6 and Miss Paterson
